Studio Mistaker is a well-known independent visual design studio based in Rome, with a reputation for pushing creative boundaries across editorial, motion, and identity design. To reflect their unique and bold personality, they needed a website that would break conventions and communicate their voice — both visually and interactively.

Description

The visual design and layout were entirely crafted by the Studio Mistaker team. My role was to translate their bold, highly customized graphic direction into a fully functional website. I developed a custom WordPress theme from scratch — both backend and frontend — ensuring flexibility, performance, and full creative freedom. I collaborated closely with the designers to bring their vision to life, implementing features such as angled typography, overlapping elements, hover effects, and animated transitions using GSAP and Barba.js. I also contributed to UX refinements and interaction logic, adapting their unique style to responsive behaviors across all screen sizes.

Problem

Studio Mistaker’s previous web presence lacked the energy and personality that defines their studio. They needed a portfolio that would not only display their work, but act as an extension of their visual philosophy — experimental, sharp, and unpredictable.

Solution

We created a fully custom WordPress site that gave full control over layout and animation, allowing the studio to showcase their projects in a nonlinear, visually striking way. Scroll-based transitions, magnet hover effects, and animated interactions enhanced the playfulness without sacrificing clarity.
